Charter Meister is a marketplace for boat rentals and charters. Boat owners list their boats with their own prices, calendar and terms; guests find a boat and book it directly with its owner, paying by card through Stripe.
How it works
- Every listing is reviewed by our team before it goes live.
- Owners set their prices, availability and cancellation terms. The terms are fixed on a booking the moment it is made, so they can't change afterwards.
- When a guest requests a boat, their card is authorised for the total but not charged. It is charged only when the owner accepts; otherwise the hold is released.
- Owners answer within 48 hours, sooner for trips coming up. Some boats confirm instantly.
- Owners are paid their share through Stripe 24 hours after the trip starts.
How we make money
Owners pay a commission on each booking, at a rate they choose between 7% and 30%; a higher rate places their boat higher in search results. There is no listing fee and no subscription.
Guests pay a service fee of 3% on the rental and any required extras. It is shown as its own line before they pay. It isn't refunded if the guest cancels a confirmed booking.
Security deposits are paid to the owner on the spot and returned by them. We never handle them.
