When is my card charged?

Your card is authorized when you request, and charged only when the owner confirms.

Help centre / Payments

Booking a boat is a two-step process for your card: an authorization first, then a charge later.

When you request a booking

We place an authorization hold on your card for the full amount. This confirms the funds are available -- it does not move any money, and your bank statement will show it as a pending hold, not a completed charge.

When the owner confirms

The held amount is captured -- this is the actual charge -- and your booking becomes Confirmed at the same moment. A booking is never marked Confirmed without a successful charge going through.

If the owner declines, or you cancel first

The authorization hold is released and you are never charged. How long a released hold takes to disappear from your statement depends on your bank, not on us.

If your booking is further out

Card authorizations are only valid for a limited window after they're placed. If your booking is more than about a week out and the owner hasn't responded yet, reach out via contact if you're unsure of its status.
